Athletics

Our Athletics track is home to Marshall Milton Keynes Athletic Club (MMKAC) and hosts many athletic meetings. The track can be hired by individuals and clubs subject to availability. MMKAC has over 600 members and organizes coaching, training and competition for all disciplines within athletics.

Track and Field

MMKAC competes in league competition for Under 13s right through to over 60s, both male and female. The youngsters compete in the Southern Division of the National Young Athletes’ League; the Senior Women compete in Division 2 of the UK Women’s League and the Senior Men in Division 1 of the Southern Men’s League. MMKAC was voted the Track and Field Club of 2005 and 2006 by UK Athletics, and sprints coach, Mike Leonard was voted Performance Coach of 2005. The Club achieved Clubmark accreditation in 2004.

Road Running

The club organizes four events each year, the Nike MK Half Marathon, the South of England Road Relays, the Wolverton 5 mile race and MK 10 km race. Some 30-35 members take part in the London Marathon. The highlight of the year for many roadrunners is the tour of Milton Keynes in September – 6 races in 6 days.

Cross Country

The Club competes in the Children Cross Country League which caters for all age groups of men and women. MMKAC has been overall Champions for nine years in a row. The club also competes in many local county, regional and national events.

Training

The club meets at Stantonbury Campus Stadium on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 1800. Advice and assistance given by qualified coaches in all aspects of the sport. Ages from 9 years are very welcome to come along. Road/cross country groups meet at weekends for longer distance training. Social events occur during the year.
