Founders day was a day of celebration across the entire 12 Griffin Schools Trust, GST, family of schools
We celebrated the historical heritage of each school in the trust, including Stantonbury, and we recognised student’s achievements including participating in sporting and theatrical events.
Students who took part in the pantomime, Robin Hood, were presented with professional photographs, and those who took part in the production of Footloose were given a signed photo of appreciation by all the staff.
The fabulous new House Cup was presented to the leaders in each year group of winning house, Saxon, in a series of assemblies which took most of the morning. The Griffin House Points cup was awarded to Blue.
Each assembly were treated to a small play ‘How to be a Griffin’ by the drama group from Year 7, and all were accompanied by the school orchestra – who are now experts in Elgar.
Massive well done to everyone.
The whole school was off timetable and busy organising various fund raising events, quizzes, sponsored activities and more.
Year 11’s were treated to an inspirational and interactive revision session by external company Maximise, and seemed to find it very worthwhile.
A feature of Founders day is the communal meal and all students were treated to a free lunch within their specific year groups. Year 7 had a buffet, Years 8 and 11 had packed lunch, Year 9 joined their guests for afternoon tea, sandwiches and cake, Year 10 had pizza and Years 12 and 13 were treated to a BBQ.
Ninety per cent of the money raised from the day will go to Children with Cancer UK, a charity that has affected both students and staff over the past few years. The remaining 10% will contribute to the GST’s CEO’s sponsorship for his marathon run which he will be doing on behalf of the Trust for MACS, which supports children born without or with underdeveloped eyes.
The students were very excited about Founders Day, and enjoyed taking part in the sponsored activities. Please can any money raised be sent back to school in an envelope marked for Finance with their name and year group. This will be important as to who wins the Griffin Cup.
We thank you for supporting Founders day and the activities.
And although they had to wear uniform today, we will have a non uniform day for Sport Relief, which will be announced soon!
