CAT’s Latest Update- bring your own headphones:
These tests involve listening carefully to spoken instruction from the computer. Out of consideration to our students – and for these tests ONLY -we are inviting them to bring in their own headphones or earphones. There are 3 different tests and most students will complete them by Wednesday.
The school will provide over the ear headphones for those who don’t have any.
Like many secondary schools, we test our students in Year 7 to help us to understand their level of skill in thinking with words, thinking with numbers and thinking with shapes and space. The tests we use are called CATs (Cognitive Abilities Tests) and they are useful in helping us to understand your child’s learning potential across a range of curriculum subjects and how he/she likes to learn.
Your child will sit three short tests during the week of 12th March 2018 and will not need to do any revision or preparation as CATs test potential rather than what your child knows and understands. If your child has a set of headphones that they would prefer to use then they should bring these in on the 12th March.
Results will be available later in the year. In the meantime, you can find out more about the tests on the web-link below. If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
