Two commandos, Sam and Jack, from the Royal Navy spent the day working with ten students (three from sixth form and seven from Year 10) on Tuesday 16 November. During the day the students participated in:
- A presentation on working life in the Royal Navy
- An introduction to rations
- Drill practice – some of the students found this exercise very difficult
- Lots of outdoor physical exercise.
As always our students were fantastic ambassadors for the school and the event was ably hosted by Paul Blair. Sam and Jack commented that the hospitality they received was superb!
Some of the students’ feedback from the day:
Eleanor: I loved the tasks and stories. I learnt a lot from the practices and I thought it was amazing!!!
Tori: My views and opinions on this day, it was very interesting. It gave me a lot of insight of what they have to do to live and survive. It was an amazing experience. But a lot of work. ☺
Luke: I enjoyed the experience and learning how I need to improve. Sam and Jack were great at teaching and motivating.
Bradley: I enjoyed the experience, especially tasting rations and it has inspired me for when I leave school.
