Curriculum
At Stantonbury we believe that it is important that our students see their whole education as a means of understanding their world. We endeavour to achieve this by designing a curriculum which, while meeting all the requirements of the National Curriculum, wherever possible pulls subjects together rather than splits them up. Instead of Biology, Physics and Chemistry, students study a combined Science course; instead of History, Geography, Religious Education and English, they study Integrated Humanities / English. We believe this organisation will help students and also enables teachers to get to know students well by working with them over extended periods of time.
This organisation of the curriculum best meets the requirements of the National Curriculum in terms of the contents and skills required and of the GCSE examinations in year eleven where our students have the chance to follow courses leading to nine GCSE or BTEC qualifications.

Rich Tasks
Twice in Year 7, 8 and 9 students will undertake Rich Tasks that bring together learning in several subjects in new and exciting ways. Rich Tasks are designed to allow students to see the links between their different subjects. They are also an opportunity for students to show what they have learnt and understood through some sort of performance or sharing with an audience. The Rich tasks allow students to be more independent learners and work together collaboratively. They are supported by each subject area, through normal teaching and schemes of work thus giving us an opportunity to create a more coordinated curriculum and eliminate some repetition and overlap. Rich tasks are given dedicated curriculum space at key times in the year through days during which the timetable is collapsed and the students spend the whole day working and preparing for their presentation at the end of the task.
